The Government of Canada (GC), like every other government and private sector organization in the world, faces ongoing and persistent cyber threats, and it has a critical role to play in protecting the information of Canadians. The GC works continuously to enhance cyber security in its services by preventing attacks through the implementation of protective security measures, identifying cyber threats and vulnerabilities, and by preparing for and responding to all kinds of cyber incidents to better protect Canada and Canadians. This includes adopting a defense-in-depth strategy in which multiple layers of security are placed throughout an IT system to provide redundancy in the event a security control fails or a vulnerability is exploited.
